About

Hi, I'm Kate.

I'm an American Speech-Language Pathologist and the founder of CommuniKate, based in Zürich, Switzerland.

Through CommuniKate, I specialize in speech, accent, and communication coaching for international professionals who want to communicate more clearly and effectively in English. I also provide speech, language, and literacy services for children and families.

My background as a Speech-Language Pathologist gives me a unique perspective on professional communication. I understand how speech sounds, pronunciation, rhythm, stress, and language work together, and how targeted changes can make a meaningful difference in how clearly you're understood.

I've also pursued specialized training in accent and communication coaching, including Compton P-ESL, the Advanced Accent Specialist Professional Certification™, and the Ethics of Accent Modification. This additional training helps me provide individualized, evidence-based coaching while respecting each client's accent, language background, and communication goals.

No matter who I'm working with, I take time to understand the person in front of me and make our work together practical, supportive, and directly relevant to everyday life.

Kate, founder of CommuniKate in Zürich

From Washington D.C. to Zürich

I grew up in the United States and studied Speech and Hearing Science at The George Washington University before completing my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of the District of Columbia. I began my career in Washington D.C., working with children across clinical and school settings before moving to Switzerland in 2020.

I opened my private practice in Zürich in 2021, originally as Suter Speech. Over the years, the practice has grown alongside me, expanding from speech-language therapy for children and families to include speech, accent, and communication coaching for international professionals. In 2026, Suter Speech became CommuniKate, a name that better reflects the people I work with and the services I provide today.

Alongside CommuniKate, I work as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Zürich International School. Working within an international community has given me a deeper understanding of how language, culture, and communication intersect. I work closely with multilingual children and families from around the world and see every day how our language backgrounds shape the way we communicate and learn.

That experience has also shaped the way I approach coaching with multilingual professionals. Your accent and communication style reflect your language background and experiences. My role isn't to change that, but to help you understand your speech and give you practical tools to communicate more clearly and effectively when it matters most.

Communication Is Personal

The way you speak is personal. Your first language, where you've lived, the people you've learned from, and the work you do all influence the way you communicate. That's why my approach to coaching isn't about eliminating your accent or teaching everyone to sound the same. It's about identifying the speech and communication patterns that have the greatest impact on clarity and giving you the tools to modify them when you choose.

The same philosophy carries into my work with children and families. I start with the individual, understand their strengths and needs, and build support around the communication situations that matter in their everyday life.
